Born nearly 10000 years ago, Calmar has seen more war and strife than any has the need to. Born of the Kaldorei, he was a mere boy when introduced to Cenarius and placed in the care of the demigod. Spending his days learning of the woods and it’s creatures, Calmar remained remote from the general population, though he heard rumor the depths other Kaldorei had descended as they explored the magic of the Well of Eternity. His own brother joined with the high borne and soon stood at Azshara’s right side, one of the greatest warlocks of the day. Calmar heard Cenarius’ warning, but having spent so little time with his own sibling did not hold the sway to convince his brother to turn from the power he had gained. As time drew near for the conflict at the Well of Eternity Calmar stood with Malfurion as one of the archers in his strike force. One of the few survivors of the encounter, Calmar placed himself in a self imposed exile and disappeared from the face of Kalimdor.

Where Calmar wandered for most of that time is unknown, and his tongue speaks little of it. What is known is that shortly before the Orcs arrived in Kalimdor, Calmar chose to return to Cenarius’ grove. Slowly returning himself to Kaldorei life, Calmar used his skills to assist in supplying food for the night elves that lived there. Though Cenarius recognized him, Calmar refused to open up even to his greatest teacher and friend. When the Orcs attacked Cenarius’ grove, Calmar had been leading a small party that had been following a group of Orcs and Tauren. Once certain they were leaving the Kaldorei lands, Calmar’s band returned to the grove, only to arrive in time to see Hellscream’s axe tear through the demigod. In hopes to save him they attacked the Orcs, but nearly to a man they fell. Calmar reached Grom and by some miracle his sword drew blood across the green warlord. In reflex however, Grom returned the blow, his powerful axe digging deep Calmar’s chest.

Collapsing and left for dead, Calmar fully expected to join the demigod when Tyrande and a group of others came across him. After being touched by her healing magic, he relayed the tale and offered his bow to her service. Serving in the Kaldorei forces until the end of the war and witnessing the death of the world tree and the birth of Teldrassil. Choosing again to leave his people Calmar approached the temple in Darnassus in the early morning hours, and carefully laid his bow and armor near the steps. By the time Tyrande’s priests performed their morning blessings, Calmar had left the Great Tree, never intending to return.
