Before You Begin:
- NEVER move cart. Even though on wheels, there are many cables that WILL be damaged if they are tugged on or run over.
- Unlock A/V cart using the key.
- Ensure the Elmo is turned on (green light above monitor output marking)
- Ensure the VCR is turned on (display says anything other than -:-- or Auto)
- Ensure the RECEIVER is turned on (Display has blue lighted text in center display)
- Ensure the Computer is on (blue computer inside the cabinet, on far right has a light on its front).
- Ensure the Flat Panel Monitor is on (In the lower right corner a green or amber LED will be on – if no light, press round gray button on lower right of monitor).
- Pull keyboard tray straight out. To raise keyboard tray, grip edges of tray and gently lift front edge upward. To lower, raise front edge of tray and ease down and back into cabinet.
For all uses to adjust volume:
- Use RECEIVER/VCR remote control OR
- Turn large knob on right side of RECEIVER
If you want to use the VCR:
- Set the Elmo to VCR (push VCR label, green LED below will light)
- Set the RECEIVER remote control to VCR (left column of remote, 4th button down from top)
- Put tape in VCR
- Use RECEIVER/VCR remote control OR Controls on front of VCR
If you want to use the Elmo to project documents:
- Set the Elmo to ELMO CAMERA (press label – green LED will light)
- To view traditional transparencies, press the Lamp Base button.
- To view opaque objects, press the Lamp Upper button
- Use Zoom setting to project as little or much of document as desired
- Turn on/off auto focus or manual focus if needed
If you want to use the computer:
- Set the RECEIVER to DVD (DVD Button on RECEIVER Remote – Left column of remote, 5th down from top)
- Set the Elmo to COMPUTER (press label – green LED will light)
- Press key on keyboard or wiggle mouse to wake computer
- Follow on-screen instructions to log in. When done, log off (from finder choose log out from Special menu)or restart
If you want to play a CD-ROM or DVD:
- Follow above instructions for computer
- Press button directly below CHFA|TECH label on the Computer
- Place disc in tray
- Gently push tray back into computer
- Go to Apple menu in upper left corner of screen. Select MAC Applications then Multimedia
- Chose Apple DVD Player or Apple CD Audio Player as appropriate.
- For Apple DVD Player, we suggest; under Video: select “Fill Screen” and “Present Video on screen”, under Window, “Hide Control Panel”.
- Eject disc using controls in program or from finder, click on the disc’s icon, go to special menu and choose “Eject.”
To use the Gyro Point mouse:
- Place on flat surface, move as a standard computer mouse.
- In the air: While holding the activate button (on the bottom of the device), move your wrist in a manner similar to using a flashlight
- Always replace the mouse in the cradle when finished so that the batteries may recharge.
When leaving classroom:
- TURN PROJECTOR OFF (PROJECTOR Remote Control – press off button twice)
- Leave ALL other equipment on.
- Log off or Restart computer
- Return wireless mouse to cradle
- Turn the ELMO lamps off (If green LEDs are on for upper or base, push the corresponding button again).
- Return remotes to cabinet
- Lower keyboard – push back into Cabinet
- DO NOT turn off power strip inside cabinet
- Close and lock doors to cabinet
Troubleshooting:
Mouse - If no green light on top of mouse, replace in cradle and remove. If mouse was out of cradle when you arrived, batteries may need charging. Please always replace in cradle for unit to charge between uses.
Projector: Is the projector ON? – Push On button on PROJECTOR remote. If no power to unit, check switch by room entrance door. If power and light, but no image, press input button on remote until screen reads “INPUT 1.” Is ELMO on? Is Monitor Output on ELMO set to Main. Is proper input selected on ELMO?
Computer: If computer does not awake when key is pressed or mouse is moved, or if it appears frozen, press reset button (small protruding button below and left of the illuminated power button).
